Update

Luke's first week of 3rd grade went well. He likes his teacher and knows some kids in his class, so he feels comfortable already. We are trying to give him more responsibility with school and homework this year. After a very casual summer or doing lots of "nothing," he is slowly coming to grips with his new responsibilities. The most difficult part of this first week of school was the 6am wake up call every morning.

Maiya finally has a social security number. All it took was a trip downtown to the social security office, lots of paperwork to prove she is, in fact, who she is. Four days later, they had already issued her number and the new card was in our mailbox. The next step is the final step of all of our adoption related paperwork. I don't know why I have been putting it off, I'm THRILLED to be almost finished with our agency, the paperwork, and all things related to her adoption! It will be nice to not have to think about stuff that is required, and just live our life!

Evan is... Evan. Not much to update on him. He continues to be laid back, go with the flow, and super adorable. Now that Luke has started school, Evan has been asking about going back to his school. Unfortunatly, he doesn't start until after Labor Day, so we have another month to fill with things to keep Evan busy!

End of Summer (for Luke)

We found our friend Rocky the turtle on our front porch. I reminded the kids that Rocky was a "wild" turtle and he wasn't our pet. He visits when he is in the area. So, the kids created their own "Rocky" using toys we had laying around the backyard. 

I took the kids to Baxter's Bunch today. It's a bouncy house place with a rock climbing wall. It's clean. Wasn't too busy. It was a good place to go for a few hours.

Wagner Weekend

We recently went to Indiana and met up with Dan's brothers and parents. We had a nice time exploring Indianapolis together and went to the Children's Museum and the zoo.

There was also a lot of jumping on the beds in the hotel rooms, and swimming in the hotel pool.

We spent one evening at Greg and Andrea's house and all of the cousins enjoying playing together.

Beach Week Friday

 Our last full day at the beach was Friday. We went down to the sand early to squeeze in as much beach time as we could. The kids jumped right into playing and spent the entire morning playing in the sand.

Luke built a cool sandcastle. When he finished, he used seashells to "write" Holden Hideout, by Lucas.

Evan and Luke both really enjoyed riding the waves on the boogie boards. Evan spent a lot of time in the water on Friday.

Every once in awhile, we would look over and find Maiya sitting on the couch with the boppy pillow in her lap. She would sit there saying, "Maiya hold Shelby" until someone brought Shelby over to her.
