Zoo

The kids went to the North Carolina Zoo with Grammy and Grandad. They saw the dinosaur exhibit and fed the giraffes.

They were very excited that Grammy and Grandad bought them cotten candy. They know Mom and Dad would never buy that for them. That's why they have grandparents.

Cooling off in the water misters.

They stopped at Great Grandmother's house after the zoo and Maiya snuggled with Brown Dog.

Brown Dog has been around for a long time.

When the boys got home, they made a zoo in their room. See the sign?

The animals in the zoo.

The signs on these doors say "museum" and "staff."

The museum had rock minerals, an adventure jeep, and a dinosaur skeleton.

Staff.

Random Update

Maiya's hair is getting long and we can do some fun stuff with it now!

We went to a large indoor playground last week. It was over 3 stories tall and had hundreds of different places to crawl, climb, and slide. The kids had a great time.

Mom and I went to Painting with a Twist. It was a fun night. We learned to paint and had snacks and drinks while we did it.

We had an instructor who was teaching us in step by step directions, how to paint "Moonlit Cherry Blossoms."

Words

Words from Evan: "When you die, Jesus comes and puts a cape on you and then shows you the way to fly off of Earth and to Heaven to God."

Also of interest is that this conversation started with him asking me,"does everything but God and Benson (our dead dog) live on the Earth? Even Thomas the Train?"

--------------------------------------

Last night, Evan came running into my bedroom at 2:30 am saying that there was a "scary story in his head" while he was sleeping. I took him back to his room and rubbed his back until he looked like he had fallen asleep. I had just gotten back into my bed when he came back into my room and said, "Didn't you hear me? There is a monster in my head and if you leave me it will eat my brain!" He slept with me the rest of the night, as not to have his brain eaten.

Reed Gold Mine

It has been awhile since we have had time to do a fun family activity and today we finally got around to getting out and doing something fun!

Panning for gold at Reed Gold Mine.

Luke found a flake! We're rich!

We took the self guided tour. Luke and I took turns reading the information at each stop on the tour.

Going underground into the mine.

This was one of the original mine paths. Only about 5 feet tall and 3 feet wide. Dan didn't fit quite right.

Looking up into a 50 foot shaft.

At the top of the shaft, looking at the bucket that carried miners and supplies down into the mine.

Maiya enjoyed the beautiful weather and the walking path.

It was a great day for a walk.

Our three sweeties.

Happy Birthday, Maiya!

Our little girl is 3!

Maiya celebrated her birthday by having a few friends over to play in the morning. Our good friend Melissa came and brought some toys and songs and did a short music class with the kids. Maiya was in heaven and loved every minute of the singing and dancing. Her favorite gift was a trampoline. This girl LOVES to jump and every morning since she has gotten her trampoline, she gets up out of bed, runs downstairs and jumps. And, jumps. And, jumps.

Happy Birthday, beautiful girl. We love your spunky, independent soul. You love with every inch of your precious body, and your passion for life is full force. We love you!
