Halloween 2012

My princess Maiya.

Pirate Evan.

Ninja Luke.

Look closely, or you might miss him. He's stealthy.

Box

We recently got a new dishwasher and we have been having fun playing in the box that the dishwasher came in.

I came home from an appointment this week, and I found Grammy and Maiya in the box. I think maybe the kids captured Grammy and put her in the box.

Pumpkin Carving

The boys actually got into cleaning and carving the pumpkin this year. Usually they just watch, but this year, they were more involved. Maiya wasn't interested at all.

They each also painted a small pumpkin.

Luke painted his pumpkin to look like a witch.

Fat Lip

Our Friday night started out with some family fun time. Dan and I pretended to be "kid eating ghosts" that tickled children. Lots of laughing and screeching.

Then, we wrapped the kids up in their blankets to make mummies (or, burritos). That was fun because if they fell down, they had a hard time getting up because their arms were all wrapped up.

Next, the boys put on their plastic "vampire" fangs. Giggles. Silly times. It was a great night of playing.

Then.... it was bedtime and the mummy burritos were trying to go upstairs with their fangs in their mouths and their arms wrapped up in their blankets. That's when things went bad.

Evan tripped on the stairs and fell and hit his mouth (with the plastic fangs) on the step. He couldn't catch himself because his arms were wrapped up in his mummy burrito blanket.

Lots of blood, crying, ice, and snuggles, and finally he went to bed.

This morning, we have a kid that looks like he was in a fight with the school bully.

His top lip is so swollen that he can't close his mouth. His cheeks are even swollen a little bit. Inside his mouth, the top part of his gum line is bruised all over (from where the plastic fangs hit the gum line when he fell). Several of his teeth are a little wiggly. We're hoping they firm back up as he heals.

His bottom lip is a little swollen, too. That's where he bit down and bled from last night.

Poor kid.

He's being a trooper, but he's having a hard time swallowing without slurping, and he slurs some words because he can't put his lips together.

We're going to give him until Monday and keep icing his lip. Hopefully we won't have to make a trip to the dentist for the teeth.

The joys of parenting.

Pumpkin Patch

Today was pumpkin patch day!

I love this one.

Searching for "The Great Pumpkin."

Maiya found her "great pumpkin."

Cute picture... just a little squinty from the sun.

Fake Halloween

Grandma and Grandpa are visiting and Grandma brought treats for the kids. So, they put on their costumes and did a "fake" trick or treat." It resulted in candy and a light up necklace. The kids were very happy.

After trick or treating, we broke in our new fire pit and started a fire.

And, since we had a fire going, we had to make S'mores!

They were sticky.

We also played a round of Chubby Bunnies. Luke fit three marshmallows in his mouth.

Then, we made up a very spooky story about a guy named One Eyed Willy, who lived in the Forest of Mystery. After we cleaned up from the sticky s'mores, we watched a Halloween special on TV. It was a fun night!

Sea World

Today we visited Sea World!

We saw some fish. This is Luke's impression of this fish with a thing sticking out of it's head.

We visited the Shark Encounters area. The kids each posed in the jaw of a great white shark.

We watched a funny show about pirates and they had sea lions and otters do some silly tricks.

Next we saw the Shamu show. The kids liked watching the people in the front rows getting soaked with water from the splashing. We were all in agreement that we did not want to sit in the soak zone.

The kids were all happy to get on more rides. Maiya was especially happy that she was big enough to go on most of the rides and she didn't have to just sit around and wait for her big brothers to have all the fun.

There were some cool street performances.

Evan went on the small Shamu roller coaster. As you might be able to tell from this picture, he was a bit unsure about it.

This ride just bounced up and down and up and down. Maiya LOVED it.

Our day ended with a rather rainy afternoon. But, the kids were in their swimsuits, so they didn't mind too much. We got to pet some stingrays and the day was done.
